Drinking water has unsafe levels of nitrate. Welcome to the heartland of America, where I grew up. Or, as I like to call it: Cancer Country. I wish signs like these were rare, but they are not. I started seeing these 20 years ago.
I hope this helps explain a little why big agribusiness of wheat, corn, and soybeans is not a sustainable or healthy way to feed a nation. This isn’t even about unsafe food; it is about unsafe side effects of growing mass quantities of food on industrial farms. It poisons the planet.
Way too many people that I knew growing up in my farm community have cancer or died from cancer. The percentage is stunning and frightening. The cancer rates are dramatically higher there than where I live now in California, for example.
Buy local, buy small, and buy organic. Stop supporting these industrial farming cancer factories.
